Disney will make not just a game but a gaming platform for years to come with its upcoming Disney Infinity project, Polygon reports. Leaked videos and images indicate the multiplatform project for consoles as well as tablets and mobile devices will combine Disney's licensed properties in one open sandbox world. Infinity incorporates characters from both Disney and Pixar, with Buzz Lightyear and Woody from Toy Story appearing alongside Peter Pan and Aladdin. The dozens of characters are distinguished by their access to about 30 different abilities, including driving, riding, swimming, and flying. Toy Story 3: The Video Game's Toybox Mode--both it and Infinity were developed by Avalanche Software--was a strong design inspiration for Infinity's sandbox-style rumpus room, where players can drop in toys and create structures with building blocks. The game has a very open emphasis, with players never being forced to partake in any given activity. Playsets will provide a more thematic experience, with toys and maps based on specific properties. These are likely where any narrative missions would figure in. Polygon found no evidence for the persistent rumors that Disney Infinity will use Skylanders-style physical toys to integrate with the game experience in its sources. More will be revealed on January 15, when Disney has scheduled the game's official announcement. Read the entire article here: www.gamesradar.com/disney-infinity-leaks-show-sandbox-gaming-platform/

Worth keeping an eye on, I Suppose--Doubt they'd jump on a Skylanders-Style toy marketing scheme just yet, Maybe after the sales #'s roll in
(I did like the feature they had in The Kinect Disneyland Adventures game--They put QR tags on Park Merchandise (Clothing) you could Scan in to unlock the In-Game version for Free--Could be a great idea if they ever do a MMO.)
